The annual NADA Women Driving Auto Retail (WDAR) event at the NADA Show celebrates gender diversity in the auto retail industry. and offers both formal and informal networking opportunities, along with empowering talks from inspiring speakers. After a networking segment, the event will wrap up with Breaking Barriers, Building Success.
I attended the 2024 Women In Automotive Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado. What makes Women In Automotive different? What all these conferences have in common are networking in the automotive industry from the dealer to vendor to OEM levels. But none of these were Women In Automotive. Recently, I was taken aback.
A proper introduction is critical to any good business networking experience. My mom then became the seventh female Toyota dealer principal in the nation. I’m also the co-chair of the Women of Color Automotive Network (WOCAN) Member Experience & Events Committee. Sounds fancy right? But that’s not the only thing I am.
The students participated in a fun scavenger hunt in the morning, followed by roundtable breakout sessions with automotive professionals and educational professionals from the Automotive Business School of Canada, the Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network, Ontario Tech University, and Honda Canada.
She also graduated from the ABSC’s Dealer Academy, which is a training program that helps equip senior dealership personnel for roles as GMs and ultimately dealer principals. She didn’t have any family or connections in the auto industry when she started the program, and networked and hustled her way to a rewarding career.
