The Renault Megane E-Tech is the best-selling EV in France in June. The French new car market endures a second consecutive month of year-on-year losses in June at a worsening -4.8% to 181,712 sales. This is to be compared with the 230,965 units of pre-pandemic June 2019. The year-to-date volume is now up a meagre 2.8% to 914,830. In June, petrol sales are down a harsh -20.4% to 54,360, diesel is off -8.5% to 16,198, HEVs soar 35.3% to 62,357 including 28,020 mild hybrids.

Ford Maverick sales are up 83.8% year-on-year in June. Sales of new light vehicles in Argentina implode -25.5% year-on-year to 28,383 units, leading to a year-to-date volume off -22.3% to 173,079. Toyota (-27.2%) sees its market share slide slightly year-on-year to 22.6% but remains dominant in the brands ranking. Volkswagen (+4.9%) and Ford (+14.7%) defy the negative trend and are the only Top 10 members in positive.

Changan sells over 10,000 monthly units in Russia for the first time. New car sales in Russia gain 50.9% year-on-year in June to 124,394 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 79.1% to 719,311. Lada (+43.8%) trails the market slightly and sees its share thaw to 27.5% vs. 28.8% so far this year. In contrast Haval (+83.7%) advances fast to 12.2% share vs. 11.3% and while Chery (+34.7%) captures less ground than the overall trend it sees its market share progress to 10.9% vs. 9.9% year-to-date.

Sales of the Honda Civic, CR-V, and HR-V have all jumped considerably this year, Honda sold 31.6% fewer Passports in the first half of the year compared to 2024. The CR-V was easily the Japanese brand’s best-selling model. Honda executives in the U.S. have reason to celebrate, with brand sales rising by 12.3% through the first half of 2024, driven primarily by increased demand for its truck and SUV models.
