Competing in the exhibition class, Hyundai World Rally driver Dani Sordo piloted a Ioniq 5 N time-attack special known as the TA Spec version to the finish line in a time of 9:30.852. That's a record for a modified electric SUV.

Hyundai Accent sales are up 220.2% year-on-year in May. New car sales in Saudi Arabia gain 4.3% year-on-year in May to 61,937 units. The year-to-date tally is now up 4% to 312,197. Toyota (+2.4%) slightly trails the market but lodges a strong 29% share vs. 27.6% so far this year. Fisker appears set for liquidation, potentially serving as the final nail in the coffin for the car manufacturer that filed for bankruptcy at the start of last week. The duo won despite an issue, which forced the truck to stop in the middle of the race. Hyundai made a splash at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb , but it was Ford that ruled the day. Their F-150 Lightning SuperTruck dominated the event as Romain Dumas rocketed up the 12.4 mile (20 km) long course in 8 minutes and 53.553 seconds.

Most dealers say they are under pressure from carmakers to sell EVs to meet ZEV Mandate targets. A survey of dealers carried out by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) found that 39% of dealers were under ‘a great deal’ of pressure to sell EVs whilst 32% were under ‘a moderate amount’ of pressure. The survey received 51 responses from dealer groups, representing over 300 sites.

The National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) has launched a new grading standard for used LCVs. The scheme will be pioneered by Manheim Auction Services (MAS) across its auction locations and to its customers starting from 1 July 2024.
