The next Acura NSX, or a car like it, will be powered by batteries, Shinji Aoyama, global executive vice president for Acura parent Honda, said at this month's 2024 Monterey Car Week, Motor1 reported. Aoyama described the car as an “NSX-type of vehicle” and said it may not necessary be called an NSX. He also confirmed it would ride on.

The Kia Stonic is back to the Cyprus top spot in July. According to our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT , the Cyprus new car market is off a harsh -19.3% year-on-year to 1,360 units. The year-to-date tally however up 8.9% to 10,150. Kia (-38.9%) easily remains on top of the brands charts despite a damning year-on-year fall. Volkswagen (+181.3%) surges ahead and overtakes Hyundai (-2.7%) to rank #2 overall.

Greek new car sales edge down -1.4% year-on-year in July to 12,205 units, but the year-to-date tally remains frankly in positive at +9% to 90,225. The BYD Seal ranks #15 in Indonesia in July. Indonesian wholesales drop -7.8% year-on-year in July to 74,160 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -17.4% or over 100,000 units to 484,235. Meanwhile retail sales perform markedly better at -1% to 75,608 but are down -12.2% year-to-date to 508,050. Toyota (-9.7%) falls slightly faster than the market but reaches an outstanding 36.6% share.

GM is laying off 1,000 salaried staff from its software and services division around the world. Around 600 of the job losses are due to cuts at the automaker’s tech campus near Detroit. The layoffs amount to approximately a 1.3 percent reduction in GM’s total workforce, reports say.
