This leads the year-to-date tally to 9.08 million units, up 1.4% over the year-ago figure of 8.95 million. The SAAR is up slightly to 15.8 million units, up from 15.7 million in July 2023 and 13.5 million in July 2022. The average daily selling rate (DSR) stands at 50,925, down from 51,971 a year ago.

BMW has issued a recall spanning seven of its models lines, though only certain model variants built between the 2019 and 2021 model years are affected. The cause of the recall, which affects 105,588 vehicles in the U.S., is a starter motor that could overheat if damaged and the driver repeatedly attempts to start the engine using long starting.

The man suing Hyundai and Kia says his driving data was shared and triggered a $250 insurance premium increase. Earlier this year, GM was accused of selling data it collects through its OnStar service. It started life in Europe as a regular 500SEC before AMG increased the engine capacity and upgraded the chassis.
