A class action says the carmakers is sharing data, including trip reports and “hard braking” events. The man suing Hyundai and Kia says his driving data was shared and triggered a $250 insurance premium increase. Earlier this year, GM was accused of selling data it collects through its OnStar service. Hyundai and Kia have been accused of collecting driving data from their owners and selling it to insurance companies in the United States without consent.
A 1985 Mercedes 500SEC AMG 6.0 built before Benz bought out the Affalterbach tuning firm is up for auction. The 51,000-mile, V8-powered coupe is being offered on auction site Cars & Bids in the US. It started life in Europe as a regular 500SEC before AMG increased the engine capacity and upgraded the chassis. Mercedes has owned AMG outright since 2005 and held a controlling stake in the tuning outfit for six years before that.
Dodge is recalling 3,750 Chargers and Challengers from the 2023 model year. The vehicles have misaligned seat back strikers that can prevent the left rear seat from locking into place. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, adjust the striker. Dodge is recalling more than 3,000 Chargers and Challengers as their left rear seat might not lock into the upright position.
Only four months after Australian electric vehicle (EV) charging pioneer Tritium went into administration, the firm has been purchased by the Dutch subsidiary of an Indian rival, providing hope for a return to manufacturing. ChargePoint has introduced their new Omni Port, which has both CCS and NACS connectors. The right connector for your car will automatically be released when using the company’s app. Charging stations with the new tech will automatically add a NACS adaptor as needed.
