Fisker halts production, warns it may need bankruptcy protection

Fisker has paused production of its sole model, the Ocean crossover, as it seeks to conserve cash while hunting for new funding. The electric vehicle startup on Monday said the pause in production will last six weeks and will also help “align” inventory levels. The company said it has delivered 1,300 Oceans so far in 2024 and has 4,700.

Mexico February 2024: Kia K3 up to #2 in highest February in 7 years

The Kia K3 is only outsold by the Nissan Versa in Mexico in February. The Mexican new light vehicle market is up 11.1% year-on-year in February to 113,258 units. This is the largest February volume in 7 years, since February 2017 (117,985). The year-to-date tally is up 14.8% to 225,357. Brand leader Nissan (-5.6%) goes against the positive market but easily keeps the lead with 16.2% share, followed by Chevrolet (+20.4%) at 13.3%.

GWM ranks #11 brand in New Zealand in February. Like in January, new vehicle sales in New Zealand edge up 1.5% to reach 9,663 units. This is a poor result given February 2023 was down -24% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally is also up 1.5% To 22,295. Passenger Cars have a horrible month at -66.7% year-on-year to just 1,091 sales, while SUVs are up 5.2% to 4,842 and Light Commercials up 14.7% to 3,060.
