Prototypes for the first electric sports car from Porsche have been spotted testing again, this time close to the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden. The car is a redesigned 718 Boxster convertible, plans for which were confirmed in 2022 by Porsche CEO Oliver Blume for launch around 2025. A market arrival in the U.S. should coincide with the 2026.

The Nissan X-Trail manages its best ranking since September 2018. It’s yet another record for new vehicle sales in Australia with sales up a whopping 20.9% year-on-year in February to 105,023. It smashes the previous February record of 96,443 established back in 2016. The Volvo EX30 does an even better job in Norway than at home in Sweden. 7,380 new cars hit Norwegian roads in February and -0.8% year-on-year loss. The year-to-date volume is up 34.5% to 12,502. The government of Alberta, Canada , will hit electric vehicle owners with a new $200 annual tax in a bid to help raise funds for road improvements. In the government’s fiscal 2024-25 budget, it says the tax has been designed to compensate for the added wear and tear on provincial roads caused by EVs and their added weight. The fee of $200 also roughly equates to what the government says the average ICE vehicle owner pays in fuel taxes each year.
