Honda has filed a patent application for an active diffuser that would deploy only when needed, keeping a vehicle's styling clean and uncluttered when it's not in use. Rear diffusers are typically fixed in place, Honda notes in its patent application published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on Feb. 6, but originally filed.

The Dacia Sandero repeats at #2 in Italy. 147,094 new cars hit Italian roads in February, a +12.8% year-on-year increase. The year-to-date tally is up 11.7% to 289,103. Private sales (+18.3%) beat the market to 57.1% share vs. 54.3% a year ago and are up 14.1% year-to-date to 59.1% of the market vs. 57.9% over the same period in 2023. Self registrations are up 20.4% to 13,647 and 9.2% share vs. 8.6% and up 7.6% so far this year.

A Lincoln concept car from the turn of the millennium will be among the featured lots at Mecum's upcoming auction in Glendale, Arizona. Scheduled to cross the block on March 8, the Lincoln Mark X concept made its public debut at the 2004 Detroit auto show. New car sales in Spain continue on their good form in February at +9.9% year-on-year to 81,348 units, leading to a year-to-date result up 8.7% to 150,033. However the YTD cume remains off -22.8% on pre-pandemic levels. Like last month, sales to rental companies are the main engine of growth in Spain with deliveries up 89.7% YoY to 18,015 and up 85.1% year-to-date to 25,253.

Queensland motorists will face the largest fines in the state’s history with new penalty units coming into effect from mid-2024. The Courier Mail reports one penalty unit in Queensland will be valued at $161.30 as of July 1, 2024, increasing from the current rate of $154.80. This represents a year-on-year increase of 4.2 per cent, which is tied to inflation and is significantly less than the 7.7 per cent increase from the 2022/23 financial year to the 2023/24 financial year.
