The Mercedes GLA has a private ratio of 65.3% in November. Private sales in Germany are down -9.3% year-on-year to just 78,254 for a Private Sales ratio (PS) of 32% vs. 35.1% in November 2023. Year-to-date registrations are off -6.9% to 842,598 and 32.5% PS vs. 32.6% over the same period in 2023. The VW T-Roc repeats at #1 with a solid 45.2% PS while the Mercedes GLA ascends to 2nd place (65.3% PS), dislodging the VW Golf (24.6% PS).

This includes 123,793 domestic manufacturers (-6.4%) and 23,784 foreigners (-16%). Year-to-date volumes are down an equally unimpressive -6.7% to 1,489,973 including 1,250,209 locals (-6.5%) and 239,764 foreigners (-7.5%).

The BYD Dolphin will soon receive its first substantial facelift since its debut in 2021. The small electric hatchback adopts a cleaner design, especially on the front end. One of the study’s authors said “We’ve not been testing EV batteries the right way” as they don’t factor in real-world driving conditions. Acceleration, braking, and downtime all help batteries last longer. Battery degradation is a serious problem, which can drastically reduce the range of older EVs or necessitate an expensive battery replacement.
