The Honda Civic is estimated to rank #2 in Pakistan in March. New locally produced light vehicle sales in Pakistan edge up 0.3% year-on-year in March to 9,379 units. This is a poor result given March 2023 was off -65.6% on the year prior. The Q1 volume is up 14% to 29,624 sales. This is according to local association PAMA. Mazda sales are up 82% year-on-year in 2023. The Mauritius new car market soars 16.5% year-on-year in 2023 to a record 14,295 units, beating the previous record of 12,271 established just last year. Suzuki (+25%) tightens its grip on the brands ranking, ascending to 20.4% share vs. 12.6% for the #2, Toyota (+7.7%) trailing the market. Chevrolet Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter is retiring, effective later this summer, General Motors announced Wednesday, ending a 47-year career with the company. A new six-month trial testing the viability of autonomous heavy commercial vehicles will start today along Melbourne’s Citylink tollway and Monash Freeway. Spy photographers have caught the upcoming Mercedes-AMG CLE 63. This particular prototype is notable as it doesn’t appear to have a rear charging port like earlier models. Mercedes-AMG introduced the CLE 53 last year and now they’re gearing up to unveil an even more extreme variant. A prototype was recently spied undergoing testing, but it appears to be missing a charging port.

Work on the next-generation model was paused halfway through its development. Maserati is eager to ensure the electric Quattroporte offers plenty of range. It could adopt the same platform as the GranTurismo Folgore. Late last year, it was revealed that Maserati had paused development of the next-generation Quattroporte. The new model is now not expected to launch before 2028 but when it does, it could arrive with a different architecture than originally planned.

Ford recalls 456,565 Bronco Sports and Mavericks due to a calibration issue that can allow them to overuse their 12-volt batteries. If the vehicle initiates a “Stop-Start” at a light, it may not be able to restart. Ford is also recalling nine 2024 Mavericks that have the wrong tire information sticker. We tend to think of depleted batteries as being a problem for electric vehicles, but all cars need to manage their energy stores.

A US mother is suing electric vehicle (EV) giant Tesla after her toddler was allegedly able to start the family’s Model X SUV and run into her, breaking multiple bones and causing her to suffer a traumatic birth one week later. Fox59 reports California resident Mallory Harcourt had returned home with her two-year-old son in December 2018, with the Tesla Model X parked in the driveway as she removed the toddler from the car.
