I attended the 2024 Women In Automotive Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado. What makes Women In Automotive different? But none of these were Women In Automotive. This was my first Women In Automotive conference. So, like eight, maybe 10 brave men and the rest all women. I am rarely impressed these days.
My grandfather became the first Portuguese male Chrysler dealer in the nation from a small dealership in Raynham, Massachusetts. My mom then became the seventh female Toyota dealer principal in the nation. I’m also the co-chair of the Women of Color Automotive Network (WOCAN) Member Experience & Events Committee.
Karen Sutton-Ford, dealer principal of Sutton Ford in Matteson, Illinois, has been named the winner of the prestigious Ally Sees Her Award. “My mission is to show that women of color belong and can have a huge impact in the auto business.” The dealership business was in Sutton-Ford’s blood.
