The new Ranger has made a fairly big leap in terms of desirability. Its leaf-sprung rear axle feels firm, and causes the car to fuss over some lumps and bumps, but not many - while the Ranger steers unusually fluently and precisely for a pick-up, with decent body control and a respectable Tarmac grip level.
It’s all intended to give passengers in the second row as much space as possible, which may be a strength for families that want the room to spread out. It tends to crash over bumps at high speed, and generally move around a lot over smaller undulations. It’s not unbearable, but we’d stop short of calling it plush.
